A friendly couple came to try out making soba noodles.
A really close couple came to try out soba-making.
They carefully watering, kneaded the dough, and rolled it, and each seemed curious about how the other person had done it. They encouraged each other by saying things like, “Is this one a little softer?” and “It’s nicely squared.”
But they were both able to roll and fold the soba so neatly, to about 2mm, that it was hard to believe it was their first time. The lady cut it delicately, gradually thinning it, while the man made a bold, country-style soba with a little more thickness.
I boiled the freshly hand-made soba and they ate both of them. The lady said, “I won!!!” and the man said, “It’s better than any soba restaurant’s soba!!!”
At the end, saying, “It was fun making soba,” as they left on good terms.
They were such a happy couple that we were happy to see them.
