26 junior high school students from Indonesia enjoyed the soba noodle making experience and all-you-can-eat freshly boiled soba.
On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, 26 junior high school students from Indonesia and their teachers experienced soba-making at the Tomiura BIWA Club in Minamiboso.
They took turns making soba noodles, pressing them by hand and by rolling pin.
Even if they sometimes overstretched the noodles or made scratches, they worked together to get closer to the goal.
Some children wanted to participate actively, and even raised their hands to join in the folding.
Finally, they all tried cutting soba noodles. They cut the noodles carefully, surprising the size of a soba knife.
Finaly they all completed a wonderful Japanese soba noodle dish.
They all ate the 20 servings they made together and the 20 servings we prepared. They kept asking for refills, and after eating until they were full, they said, “OISHII—(delicious)”
After the meal, everyone said in unison, “Thank you very much!” as they headed off to go the next local school visit.
Thank you very much. I hope this will be one of his fun experiences in Japan.
Next time, please come Japan and experience making soba noodles with your family.
